UDAAN cultural event concludes at CUJ

JAMMU, Feb 18: The three day cultural event “UDAAN” organized by the office of Dean Students Welfare of Central University of Jammu (CUJ) concluded here today at Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony Jammu.
In the three days cultural event which started on February 16 at main campus Bagala, the students of various departments performed various cultural and curricular activities such as rangoli, collage making, on-the-spot painting, light vocal solo, photography, poetry, mime, skit, mimicry, fancy dress competition, folk group song and folk group dance.
The result of all events were declared today by the adjudicators and in rangoli competition, department of EVS (Group.9) was declared first, whereas Department of Plant Sciences (Group 17) was declared second and Department of EVS (Group 30) was declared as third. In the collage competition, Neha Sandhu of Department of MBA and TTM was declared first, Jyoti Sharma of Department of English was declared second and Rahul of Department of NSS was declared third.
In on-the-spot painting competition, Vishnu Prasad of Department of English was declared as first, whereas Waqa Ahmad of Department of Economics and Syed Sidra Haq were declared as second and third respectively.
In light vocal solo competition, Juhi Singh of Department of NSS was declared as first, while second position was shared by Swati Magotra and Jishnu of Department of English and third position was also shared by Monika Jain of Department of NSS and Manisha Andotra of Department of Social Work. In photography, Radika Bali of Department of English and Diksha Dhar of Department of MCNM secured first and second positions respectively, while the third position was shared by Mohammad Tariq V of Department of MBA and Ashish Kohli of Department of MCNM.
In poetry competition, Gurvinder Kour of Department of English, Shubham Sharma of Department of PPPA and Insha Nabi of Department of MCNM were adjudged first, second and third respectively, whereas in mime competition, Department of Marketing and Supply Chain (Group 22), Department of Social Work (Group 19) and Department of English (Group 17) clinched first, second and third positions respectively.
In skit competition, Department of NSS (Team 1) and Department of Plant Sciences (Team IV) secured first and second positions respectively, while Department of EVS (Group II) and Department of MBA TTM (Group VI) shared third position.
In mimicry competition, Himanshu of Department of HRM & OB, Amit Gupta of Department of MCNM and Prabhjyot of Department of English secured first three positions respectively, whereas in fancy dress competition, Insha Nabi of Department of MCNM and Madhu Fakwaria of Department of EVS bagged first and second positions respectively, while the third position was shared by Manmeet Kour of Department of Education and Sonakshi Malhotra of Department of English.
In the folk group song competition, Department of EVS (Team 1 comprising of Shagun Gupta and group) was declared first, while Department of Education Sem-2 (Team 8 comprising of Lakshmi Devi and Group) and Department of Education Sem IV (Team 3 comprising of Monica and group) secured second and third positions respectively.
In folk group dance competition, Department of Social Work (Team 13 comprising of Neha Bharti and group) was declared first, while Department of MCNM (Team 4 comprising of Krishna and group) clinched second position and Department of EVS (Team 6 comprising of Madhu and group) and Department of Social Work (Team 11 comprising of Abhilash Bora and group) shared third position.
On the valedictory function, Prof Devanand, Dean Students Welfare (DSW) while speaking expressed hope that these types of cultural event will give the winners an exposure and help them to nurture their talents to reach greater heights.
Assistant Dean Students Welfare, Dr Pankaj Mehta and Dr Gaurav Sehgal, Member Secretary, Dr Govind Inakhaiya, Dr Archana Kumari and Dr Vandana Sharma were also present on the occasion.
