Two top Jammu Oncologists make it to North Zone body

JAMMU, Sept 15: For the first time, two top Radiation Oncologists from Jammu have been elected as president and general secretary of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India, North Zone chapter.
Dr Rakesh Kapoor, Professor and Unit Head Department of Radiation Oncology PGIMER Chandigarh has been elected unopposed as president while Dr Deepak Abrol, Radiation Oncologist working in Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu was elected as general Secretary of the North Zone Chapter.
The results were announced today by Dr K T Bhowmik from Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi in Annual General Body Meeting of the Chapter at Chandigarh. Dr Bhowmik was Chief Election Commissioner.
Dr Neeraj Jain and Dr Manish Pandey were elected as senior and junior vice presidents while Dr Pradeep Garg was elected as Editor in Chief of Asian Journal of Clinical Oncology, being published by the North Zone Association.
Dr Rahul Sharma, Associate Professor Radiation Oncology GMC Jammu, was nominated as Treasurer.
Dr Rakesh Kapoor, though posted in PGI Chandigarh, is a native of Jammu while Dr Abrol is cancer specialist working in Jammu.
