Two photographers assaulted by crew shooting Rajnil’s film ‘2.0’

CHENNAI, Mar 22: Two senior photographers of a leading English daily and its Tamil edition were roughed up by the crew members of the Rajnikanth starrer ‘Enthiran 2.0’, during the film shoot in the city today.
The actor was not present at the scene when the incident took place.          The shooting of the film, directed by K Shankar, was on at the Triplicane area in the city, when the photographers, who were proceeding for an official assignment, were assaulted by the crew when they tried to pass through the road block put by them for the shooting.
The shooting of the film starring Rajinikanth in the lead was taking place at Eashwardoss Street in Triplicane and several vehicles of the crew members were parked haphazardly on the narrow stretch leading to traffic congestion.
The photographers also said the road blocks were causing inconvenience for the public.
A wordy duel broke out between the lensmen and the film crew following which the photographers were assaulted.
As the news spread, a large number of media personnel and several TV channels and office bearers of the Chennai Press Club rushed to the spot and condemned the incident.
They also later proceeded to the Ice House Police station and lodged a complaint demanding action against the film crew for assaulting the photographers.
Acting on a complaint, a close aide of the Director was detained by the police.
Later, Mr Shankar met the press and expressed regret over the incident and tendered his apology.
He said he had always maintained that public should not be put to any inconvenience during film shoots and said this incident had taken place without his knowledge.
Tendering an apology, he promised that such incidents would not recur in future and ensure that public were not put to any hardship during shooting.          Later, Chennai Press Club Joint Secretary Bharathi Tamizhan announced that the complaint given against the crew was being withdrawn following the apology tendered by the Director.
