Two killed in road accidents

JAMMU, Apr 18: Two persons including a 2-year-old baby were killed today in two separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a 55-year-old man identified as Shoba Ram son of Sain Dass, resident of Bajalta, was travelling on an unknown person’s bike after taking lift, when a rashly driven Wagon car bearing registration No JK12-7244 hit the two-wheeler.
The spokesman said that Shobha Ram sustained serious injuries in the mishap, which occurred around 4.30 this evening at Bajalta Morh. The injured was immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 6 pm.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem, he said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at police station Nagrota and investigations started.
Another mishap occurred tonight around 9.30 near City Square Mall, where a 2-year-old female child, who was sleeping on the road side, was crushed to death by a loaded truck when the driver was reversing the vehicle. The body of the deceased baby who was identified as Trisha, daughter of Hoori Lal, resident of Chhattisgarh (at present residing near City Square Mall), was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH Jammu. Nowabad police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
