Two killed as bike hit by truck

JAMMU, Aug 27: A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were crushed to death when a bike they were riding on was hit by a truck in Greater Kailash area of city outskirts.
“A motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AU-3362 was hit by a speedily driven truck bearing registration number PB07AF-9550 this afternoon near Railway Track at Greater Kailash,” a police spokesman here said.
He said the out of control truck dragged the bike for 20 to 30 meters thus killing the rider, who has been identified as Manohar Lal (26) son of Soudagar Mal, resident of Smailpur, on the spot and leaving the pillion rider, Sunaina Jamwal (23) daughter of Laxman Singh, resident of Sarore, critically injured.
“The injured girl was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries after a while”, the spokesman said, adding bodies of both the deceased were shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
He further said that a case in this connection has been registered at concerned police station and a manhunt has been launched to nab the driver of the truck, who escaped from the site of the accident leaving behind the vehicle.
