Two killed, 21 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, Sept 24: Two persons were killed while 21 others were injured today in four separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police official, a passenger was killed while 16 others were injured when a mini-bus bearing registration No JK02AB-9597 turned turtle at Dhok Khalsa in the jurisdiction of police station Akhnoor.
He said that the mishap occurred today at about 2 PM when the rashly driven mini-bus was on its way from Akhnoor to Balli Kharah. “In the mishap, a woman passenger namely Asha Devi wife of Rashpal Chand, resident of Balli Kharah died on spot while 16 others were injured”, he said, adding, body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites after conducting postmortem at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor.
All the injured persons namely Sanjay Kumar (35), Kamlesh Devi (54), Sneha Sharma (6) daughter of Sanjay, Neetu Devi wife of Sanjay Kumar, Ritu Devi wife of Roshan, Mithu Sharma, Mahi Sharma daughter of Roshan Sharma, Vishav Kirti daughter of Vijay Pandit, all residents of Sedh and Kuldeep Raj son of Badri Nath of Balli, Kheru Ram son of Beli Ram of Thandi Choi, Sandeep Kumar son of Bikru Ram of Pallwan, Shivangi daughter of Rajesh Kumar of Nai Wala, Tarsem Ram son of Gouri Ram of Dori Dager, Sunita Devi wife of Babu Ram of Balli, Sumitra Devi wife of Sita Ram of Janipur and Bubhneshwari wife of Mohit, resident of New Rehari, were shifted to SDH Akhnoor from where four of them namely Neetu Devi, Vishav Kirti, Tarsem Ram and Kuldeep Raj were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for specialized treatment.
In this connection, a case FIR No 196/2017 under Sections 279/337/304 A was registered at police station Akhnoor.
In another mishap, a youth identified as Vinod Kumar (25) son of Puran Chand, resident of Akhnoor, was killed on the spot this evening when a bike bearing registration number JK02AL-5929 on which he was travelling, was hit by a rashly driven truck (registration number PB06QB-2075) at Domail on National Highway.
The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for autopsy, which will be conducted tomorrow. Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused truck driver, who was identified as Swarn Singh, son of Parkash singh, Resident of Gurdaspur (Punjab). Both the vehicles involved in the mishap were also seized.
Meanwhile, a car bearing registration No JK02BG-9986 driven by a man namely Rohit Kumar son of Raj Kumar, resident of Barui (Akhnoor) in a rash and negligent manner from Akhnoor towards Manda when reached at Fowara Chowk, hit and injured a pedestrian namely Geeta Devi wife of Joginder Paul, resident of Bhanberwan. The injured woman was shifted to SDH Akhnoor for treatment. In this connection, a case FIR No 197/2017 under Sections 279/337 RPC was registered at police station Akhnoor and investigations started.
Four persons were also injured when a mini-bus turned turtle at Shiba in Nagrota area. The injured identified as Sukhdev Singh (40) son of Sham Singh, Gopal Krishan (38), Romesh Chander (63) son of Tez Ram and Faqir Singh (45) son of Pullu Ram, all residents of Kanjali (NagrotaI), were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
