Two drug peddlers arrested

Srinagar, Aug 8:  Police today arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband consignment from their poccession in Kupwara district of North Kashmir.
The SSP Kupwara, Shamsheer Hussain told reporters that based on specific input, a special team recovered 1.4 kilograms of charas and 500 grams brown sugar in Kupwara. “Two notorious drug peddlers/sellers of psychotropic substances have been arrested from Lalpora and Bohipora areas of the district along with contraband consignment,” he said.
The SSP said that the arrested accused persons have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Lone alias Shalla and Muhammad Kamal Dar. “In this connection cases have been registered and investigation has started,” he added.
Hussain said that during the special drive against drug peddlers, the special team has so far recovered 11.6 kg of charas, 2 kgs of heroin, 4.5 kgs of Brown Sugar and huge quantity of codeine.
The SSP said that more arrest and recoveries are expected in near future so as to bust the whole racket involved in sale of banned drugs and psychotropic substances which are involving the youth of the area.
He also said that so far 30 accused involved in drug peddling/narcotic smugglers including four cross LoC narcotic smugglers have been arrested and investigation of cases registered is in progress.
The SSP also said that addicted youth should avail the free facilities of de-addiction created by J&K Police at de-Addiction Centre PCR Srinagar. In this regard he appealed the parents of addicted youth to come forward without any social stigma so that their future can be saved.
