Two-day State ITF Taekwondo C’ship begins

JAMMU, Dec 1: Two-day 22nd State ITF Taekwondo Championship, organized by the All J&K Taekwondo-do Association, commenced today at Rotary Club, here.
The event was declared open by SSP (Operations) J&K, Sandeep Mehta, who was accompanied by Ritesh Kapoor and Amit Langer. Speaking to the gathering, the chief guest said that sports play a significant role in grooming the personality of an individual and also removes inhibition which at times mars a person from moving towards his or her goals in life.
Ritesh Kapoor and Amit Langer asserted that through sports one can become agile and robust. “A healthy body houses a sound mind and that is the reason that people who excel in sports possess extraordinary acumen”, they said and encouraged the participants.
Around 200 young boys and girls are participating in this event. Giving information about the championship, president of the Association, Mukesh K Thakur said that the event was part of annual calendar of the association. General secretary of Association, Vikal Dubey dwelt on other activities of the Association which are in the pipeline.
In today’s matches, Himadri Singh won gold in Under-6 Girls while Aarohi Sharma bagged silver and Saranya Gupta as well as Samridhi Sharma got bronze. In Under-8 Girls (25 to 30 kg), Vaibhavi bagged gold, Aradhya got silver and Shreya Khajuria won bronze.
In Under-10 Girls (26 to 30 kg), Somya Khajuria won gold, Kavya Khajuria got silver whereas Ridhima and Jannatpreet Kour bagged bronze. In Under-12 Girls (30 to 34 kg), Simran bagged gold, Sofia Khan won silver and Zara Khan got bronze.
Sarvgya Gupta got gold, Aadvik Gupta won silver and Sprash bagged bronze in Under- 6 Boys (16 to 20 kg) whereas in Under- 8 Boys (20 kg), Abhirath Chambyal bagged gold, Divyansh Choudhary got silver and Nivransh Dayal won bronze.
In Under 10 (25 to 30 kg), Hardik Gupta won gold and Akshyat Verma got silver wheras in Under- 12 Boys (30 to 34 kg), Bhaumik got gold, Jai Vardhan won silver and Vihaan Khajuria bagged bronze. In Under- 12 Boys, Keshav won gold, Suveer got silver and Saksham bagged bronze. In Under-12 Boys, Kartik Gupta bagged gold and Rahat Sharma got silver.
