TSO, Storekeeper booked by Vigilance sleuths

JAMMU, Nov 30: State Vigilance Organisation has booked Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO), Ramban and Storekeeper of  the Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution Department for demanding and accepting huge bribe from the ration dealer while releasing his  pending carriage charges.
While the Vigilance team led by DySP Kamaljit Singh has arrested the Storekeeper along with bribe money worth Rs  40,000  on the spot, the cops were looking for the TSO Ramban, Nazir Ahmed.
Official sources told the Excelsior that action was taken by the Vigilance Organisation on the basis of a written complaint lodged by the complainant- Munshi Ram, son of Suram Chand from  Harogh tehsil in district  Ramban. Accordingly,  a case under FIR No. 43/2017 under Section 5(1) (d) red with Section 5(2) of J&K PC Act and Section 4-A PC Act (Amendment-2014) was registered in Vigilance Police Station Jammu against accused Nazir Ahmed Wani, TSO Ramban.
The complainant alleged that he is working as ration dealer in CAPD food store Harogh tehsil in Ramban for the last 32 years. He further stated that TSO Ramban, Nazir Ahmed every time harassed him (complainant) whenever the carriage charges were disbursed and demanded bribe from him. This was the case with others also.
The ration dealer further stated that for the month of November 2017, an amount of about Rs 1.50 lakh as carriage charges has to be paid by the said TSO to the complainant, out of which Rs 10,000 has already been paid to the said TSO. He was demanding much but finally the matter was settled for Rs 50,000.  He was demanding remaining Rs 40,000. The complainant in his complaint requested for taking legal action against the corrupt CA&PD official under law.
Accordingly, on the basis of the said complaint/ FIR, a trap was laid by the Vigilance sleuths under the supervision of DySP Kamaljeet Singh. The TSO on phone asked the ration dealer to hand over the amount to his Storekeeper/ Salesman Farooq Ahmed. The storekeeper Farooq was caught  red handed while accepting graft money from the complainant and was arrested along with amount. The Vigilance team arrested the Storekeeper Farooq and put him behind the bars while it was looking for the main accused TSO, Ramban, Nazir Ahmed. Further investigation was in progress.
