Truck loaded with FCI rice gutted

RAJOURI, Feb 3: A truck loaded with rice of Food Corporation of India (FCI)  suddenly caught fire in Gujjar Mandi area here last night.
A police spokesman said that a heavy truck bearing registration No. PB06Q/3455 was going to  FCI store at Kheora in Rajouri. It had come from Jammu store of the FCI. As the vehicle reached near Gujjar Mandi Chowk at Rajouri at around 11 pm, it suddenly caught fire. The fire started from engine of the vehicle and the driver and cleaner jumped out in panic. They raised alarm and the people rushed towards the vehicle. The Fire brigade men were also informed. The people started pouring water on the vehicle and the Firemen also joined them.  The local police had also reached there. The fire was controlled and the goods saved.
Though front portion of the vehicle got extensive damage, about 90 % of the goods rains remained safe in the vehicle. The police said that short circuit could be the reason behind the fire incident.
