KATHUA, Jan 18: A truck smuggling bovine animals from Punjab to J&K was over turned on the National Highway near Kathua when a police party was chasing it during early hours today.
A police spokesman said that at around 5.30 am a police party from Hatli Morh intercepted a truck ( JK02AH/3375) coming from Punjab side. It had been reported that some bovine animals were being smuggled in the vehicle. The truck did not stop and kept moving towards Samba. A police party started chasing the vehicle. Near Palli Morh the vehicle got over turned and two animals were killed. There were total 5 bovine animals loaded in the vehicle. The driver and his associate managed to escape.
The police seized the truck and started manhunt for the smugglers. It was on way to J&K from Punjab through river Ravi. The police claimed to have identified the smugglers.
