SRINAGAR, Nov 5: Police paid floral tributes to a Selection Grade Constable (SgCt), who was killed in a militant attack in south Kashmir district of Shopian.
A police spokesperson here this evening said that to pay homage to martyr SgCt Abdul Salam, who gave supreme sacrifice of life, while fighting militants in Shopian on Saturday, a wreath laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama.
“Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police South Kashmir Range (SKR) SP Pani led the police officers and jawans in laying the floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the martyr,” he said.
He said the martyr is survived by four children, all in their teens, aged mother and wife.
Militants on Saturday fired at a police checkpoint in Rajpora in Shopian, resulting in injuries to SgCt Abdul Salam and SgCt Muneer Ahmad.
Both the injured were shifted to Army’s 92 Base Hospital Badamibagh Srinagar where SgCt Salam succumbed.
