Tributes paid to martyr Krishan Singh

UDHAMPUR, July 16: To memorize the sacrifice of Late Subedar Krishan Singh Jamwal of village Urlian in district Udhampur, who laid down his life while securing the Indian soil at Krishna Ghati’ Poonch on July 15-16, 1948, tributes were paid at the martyrs, here today.
In this connection, a function was organized at the Shahid Sthal.
Krishan Singh had laid down his life along with Sepoy Bua Ditta of 7th Jak Rifle. The sacrifice was recognized by GoI and the martyr was awarded Veer Chakra, a war time second highest gallantry award.
The function was organized by ‘Krishan Singh Memorial Welfare Committee Urlian’, under leadership of Mahadeep Singh Jamwal (Retired SSP) and attended by large number of citizens from all walks of life from Udhampur town and village Urlian.
Members of Purav Sena Sewa Parishad, Major (Retd) Uma Kant Sharma, relatives of Subedar Krishan Singh and others also attended the function.
