SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Army today paid floral tribute to a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), who was killed in a militant ambush late on Sunday in central Kashmir district of Budgam.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said the Army paid a befitting tribute with full military honours to the martyred Subedar Raj Kumar.

He said tributes to the valour and sacrifice of the late soldier were paid in a solemn ceremony held at Badami Bagh Cantonment here.
Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen J S Sandhu paid homage to the martyr by laying a wreath on behalf of all ranks of the Chinar Corps, he said, adding that floral tributes were also paid by senior officers from other security forces, besides the civil administration officials.
“Sub Kumar, 47 years of age, had joined Army in 1990 and hailed from Village Khanni in Himachal Pradesh. He is survived by his wife Smt Toshi Devi and two sons,” he said.
“The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours,” he said.
In this hour of grief, Col Kalia said the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
