Tributes paid to Dhanwantri on death anniversary

JAMMU, July 13: Rich tributes were paid today by various organizations to Comrade Dhanwantri on his death anniversary.

An impressive function to remember Dhanwantri was organized at Comrade Dhanwantri Park, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, opposite Reserve Bank of India. Several Trade Union leaders, comrades and other prominent persons participated in the function and paid floral tributes to the great martyr with showering petals on his photograph.
Speaking on the occasion, Sukhdev Singh, convener of Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Committee, highlighted his deeds and said that during his struggle he was sent to Andaman Nicobar Jail for 20 years. The members said that he was like a torch light for the youth of today’s India, especially youths of J&K and they should follow the path shown by him. The participants appealed the Government of J&K to take over the House of Dhanvantri and declare it as a monument of freedom fighter.
To mark the death anniversary of Dhanwantri, J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) today held a function at Bal Niketan, Ved Mandir, Amphalla, here. The function was organized by Ved Gandotra, JKFFA president and Rajiv Mahajan, State president, Shri Ram Sena was the chief guest.
All the members and the children of the Bal Niketan paid floral tributes by showering petals on the photograph of Dhanwantri, lit candles and kept two minutes silence in the honour of the noble soul. They also chanted National Anthem, while waving National flags in their hands. Speaking on the occasion, the members threw light over the life history of Dhanwantri, who was born on March 7, 1902 in Kali Jani, Jammu City.
