Tribute to Om Puri

Sir,
India has lost a versatile actor in the death of Om Puri. He was one of the actors who had carved a place in Indian art cinema-which is not everybody’s cup of tea. Om Puri,  broke the stereotype of conventional ‘good looking’ Bollywood hero to star in some of Indian Cinema’s memorable films such as Ardh Satya. He will be remembered for his powerful performances in many serious and comedy films.
He versatility shone through with every challenging role. Who can forget his comedy in Jaane Bhi Do Yearo and Chachi 420. It will  be difficult  for people to forget his role in TV Serial Tamas, which was a national hit at that time. As roles dried up for him in Bollywood, he luckily got chances to act in international film industry. He won accolades everywhere for his performance in movies like City of Joy, East is East, The Ghost  and the Darkness, Charlie Wilson’s War and the Hundred Foot journey.
He was not only a good actor but a generous and steadfastly loyal human being.
He, however, found himself in controversy over Pak actor ban in India in the aftermath of Uri attack.
One is really shocked over his death. Let God grant him eternal peace.
Yours etc…
