Transporters’ delegation calls on DyCM, submits demands

JAMMU, June 4: A delegation of transporters from Jammu today called on Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta to submit their demands.
The delegation led by Chairman, All J&K Transporter Welfare Association, T.S Wazir put forth various issues  pertaining to revision of passenger fare, parking places for matadors, auto rikshaws and taxis, issuance of fitness certificates, charging of Adda fees from all passenger, goods carriage vehicles, tankers and taxis plying on national highways, restructuring of bank finance, penalty on renewal of transport companies licenses, renewal fee of driving licenses and pre-paid rates of taxis of Jammu provinces.
Redressing the issues, the Dy CM said that the Government is determined to take every necessary measure imperative for the holistic development of the State. “Transport sector is one of the key aspects for the development of economy of the State and any matter concerning this vital sector will always be looked upon in priority”, the Dy CM maintained.
Kavinder Gupta assured the delegation that all their genuine issues and demands will be considered for the interest of the transporters as well for the State’s economy.
On being apprised with the issue of parking area for matadors, the DyCM asked the delegation to submit an area wise detailed report of matadors plying on various routes. He further instructed the concerned officers to ensure that the passenger vehicles are plying on the routes as per the permits.
The DyCM asked the concerned officers to adopt pragmatic approach for the smooth functioning of the department and directed them to spread awareness among the transporters regarding online payment mode. Taking strong note of negligence, the DyCM directed for strict action against the erring officials.
Other issues discussed during the meeting were issuance of manual permit, relief to injured drivers, conductors and broken vehicles in the State due to unrest and shifting of fitness test grounds for trucks.
SSP Traffic, Joginder Singh, Joint Transport Commissioner, Vikas Sharma, RTO Jammu, Deep Raj, RTO Kathua, Pardeep Singh Manhas, ARTO BOI Goods, Shafqat Majeed, ARTO TC Office, Swarn Singh, ARTO BOI Passenger and Rajesh Gupta were present during the meeting.
