Training workshop on Braille, Sign Language concludes

JAMMU, Feb 2: Five day training workshop for learning basic skills of Braille and Sign Language concluded today. The programme was organized by Chief Education Officer Jammu under Inclusive Education Component of SSA at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Canal Road under the guidance of Saugat Biswas, State Project Director, SSA/RMSA.
More than 50 teachers participated in brailee learning skills workshop. The purpose of this workshop was to acquaint the teachers about braille language so that they may be able to teach differently abled children in their schools having low vision or totally blindness in inclusive setup.
In sign language workshop, 77 teachers participated and learnt the basic skills very carefully with great enthusiasm. They prepared teaching learning material on different topics. Interaction between the resource persons and the participants also took place throughout the training session.
Chief Education Officer (CEO), Jammu Ram Pal accompanied by Deputy CEO Jammu Suraj Singh Rathore and DPO Jammu AK Kaul monitored the training programme. CEO also interacted with the participant and impressed upon them to implement the learned skills in actual classroom situation in their schools.
During the workshop, the resource persons were Neha Kalra, Jai Pàl Sharma and Anu Sharma.
On the valedictory function, State Coordinator IE SSA J&K TR Mangotra was chief guest, while State Coordinator IEDSS RMSA Joginder Pal was guest of honour.
Addressing the participants, TR Mangotra advised teachers to share their experiences with other teachers of the adjoining schools so that mission undertaken will be fulfilled.
District Co-ordinator IE SSA Gopal Das Sharma presented vote of thanks.
