JAMMU, Dec 1: Traffic in Chenani-Nashri tunnel was stopped for half an hour today due to shut down observed at Batote Grid Station as well as Udhampur Grid Station for some maintenance work.

The shut down was observed for 15 minutes from 3.30 pm to 3.45 pm and consequent upon this, vehicular movement in the tunnel was stopped from 3.15 to 3.45 while a prior information in this regard was already made to the Traffic Police, said Ashutosh Chandwar, Vice-President of IL&FS Transportation Network Limited, which has been maintaining the tunnel.
Due to the stoppage of traffic for half an hour, long queues of vehicles were seen stranded on both ends of the tunnel and it took around two hours to clear the rush, reports said.
