This has reference to the news item ‘uncertainty portends another low tourist season in Kashmir’ DE Apr 19, 2017.
It is really disturbing that the situation in Kashmir valley is deteriorating drastically due to Pak sponsored terrorism. Almost every walk of life is getting affected due to hartals, shutdowns and protests. The work culture in the offices has got derailed. Schools are not functioning. Likewise tourism sector has got terribly hit. The onset of spring season was expected to herald a bountiful season of tourism with tourists from far and wide thronging the Valley to relish its pristine beauty and salubrious climate. The world famous Tulip Garden witnessed a huge rush of tourist in the beginning, but the same in on wave.
Last year also tourist season failed to flourish due to prolonged strike and unrest. The stakeholders expected to harvest a booming tourist season. If the conditions do not improve right now, tourist foot fall will be low. This may hit the tourism industry beyond repair. It may be mentioned here that Hurriyat leaders last year had invited tourist to visit Kashmir. This has a positive effect on the tourism business, and tourists had started coming back. Hope same sainty prevails among the stakeholder.
