SRINAGAR, Dec 25: The Department of Tourism Kashmir organized a 3-day FAM tour to Kashmir for the top travel agents from Bangalore, Mumbai, Gujarat and Indore who arrived here yesterday.
The visiting travel agents had an informal interaction with the local travel agents at Hotel Vivanta, Taj.
During the tour, the travel agents will visit Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Srinagar city besides other main destinations.
The aim of the FAM tour was to show the travel agents Kashmir’s beauty and hospitality so that they could further spread awareness in their respective states regarding the scenic splendour and attractive tourist spots in the Valley.
Speaking at the interactive session, Secretary Tourism Farooq A Shah said Kashmir is the safest place for tourists not only in India but in the whole world.
Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah, Deputy Director Tourism (Publicity) Peerzada Zahoor besides travel trade fraternity were present on the occasion.
“There has been no incident in Kashmir which can be cited when tourist was harmed. Rather when tourists were in difficulty due to some other reasons, only locals helped them and made them feel more than comfortable,” he added.
“The FAM tour would convince and encourage the travel agents to attract a good tourist influx to Valley,” he added.
The travel agents pitched for point-to-point rail service from Mumbai, Gujarat and Kolkata to the Valley to facilitate tourists visit Kashmir conveniently.
The travel agents also advocated subsidy in the aviation fuel charges which would decrease the air fare.
