Token strike by Estates employees enters 2nd day

JAMMU, June 20: The token strike by the Estates employees entered second day today.
The Estates employees assembled in front of the office of the Deputy Director Estates at Manda under the banner of Co-ordination Committee of the Estates Employees Association and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
The participants demanded re-organization of the Estates Department, regularization of the daily wagers/ daily rated workers, provision of two and a half day additional pay, implementation of the time bound promotions orders and release its arrears, finalization of seniority list for holding of DPC, construction of buildings for housing of the office of the Deputy Director Estates, Jammu and also construction of staff quarters and appointment of kith and kin of the deceased employees under SRO-43.
While addressing the gathering, the association leaders namely Prem Singh Bawa and Yash Paul Sharma warned the administration of the Estates Department to redress their demands within one week, otherwise they will launch indefinite strike from July 1.
Among others who spoke were Rash Pal Lal, Shamboo Singh, Tilak Raj, Rajinder Singh, Mohinder Lal, Rattan Lal, Subash Chander, Ravi Sharma, Jeet Raj, Baljeet Singh, etc.
