JAMMU, Sept 9: On 11th consecutive day of the ongoing indefinite chain hunger strike by Teachers’ Joint Action Committee at Jammu, a large number of teachers assembled at the venue of hunger strike, near press Club Jammu.
The hunger strike is being observed near Press Club Jammu under the leadership of State president JKRTTF Vinod Sharma and State general secretary JKTF Ganesh Khajuria for the last 11 days whereas similar hunger strike at Srinagar under the leadership of chairman TJAC Abdul Qayoom Wani, entered into 7th consecutive day on Sunday.
The protesting teachers are demanding benefits of 7th Pay Commission to those working under SSA and RMSA besides de-linking their salary from the Central source of funding.
The teachers who began their 24- hour fast this morning at Jammu, included Najam Jafari (State senior vice chairman JKRETTF), Muhammad Yousaf Shah (zonal president) , Ajaz Ahmed Dar, Mukhtar Khawaja , Ikram Ul Haq Kholi , Amir Ud din Dar, Zaheer Ahmed, Tahir Malik, Iqbal Malik and Iftakar Dar.
While addressing the gathering, Vinod Sharma lambasted the Government for its non seriousness towards SSA teachers and Masters whose families are living in mental trauma. He said that due to the casual approach of the Government these teachers are unable to provide proper facilities to their families including proper food and clothing to their children and required medicines to their ailing parents.
He appealed the Governor administration to intervene in this regard and issue order regarding the implementation of 7th Pay Commission in their favour without any further delay to avoid any more confrontation with the nation builders.
Ganesh Khajuria, speaking on the occasion, appealed all the teachers to be united under the banner of TJAC and support the ongoing indefinite chain hunger strike at Press Club Jammu and Partap Park Srinagar. He made it clear that TJAC will continue the indefinite chain hunger strike till the Government issues order of implementation of 7th Pay Commission.
