Three yrs RI to Burma resident

JAMMU, Feb 27: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Shahzad Azeem today awarded three years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and fine of Rs 10000 to Zakria, a resident of Burma, who was nabbed by R S Pura Police on November 13, 2014.
After hearing APP Abdul Hafeez for the State whereas Advocate Anita Tickoo appearing for the accused, court convicted the accused for commission of offence punishable under Section 14 A (b) of Foreigners Act 1946 and awarded imprisonment for a period of 3 years and a fine of Rs 10,000.
In default of payment of fine, accused shall further serve imprisonment for a period of one month. “The accused is also sentenced to undergo imprisonment for a period of three months for the commission of offence punishable under Section 3 of the Passport (Entry into India) Act 1920”, the court said.
