Three buildings sealed, one illegal structure demolished

SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today sealed three buildings and demolished an illegal structure here in summer capital for violating sanctioned building permissions and committing major deviations.
The sealing process was spearheaded by SMC Commissioner Dr Shafqat Khan along with senior officials of the Corporation, a statement issued here said. The structures sealed included Victory House, owned by Ishfaq Ahmad Shah, Masood Ahmad Ahangar and Shafaat Ahmad Shah, all at Rajbagh area.
“The owners had violated the building permission orders and constructed multi story structures. These structures also lacked parking lots as suggested in the plans submitted before the SMC,” said the statement, adding that Ishfaq was issued permission for three storey guest house but he had deviated and left no parking space.
“Similarly, Masood committed gross violation of the permission and also reserved no parking space. In the case of Shafaat, there is stark violation of converting residential structure into a commercial one,” the SMC said in the statement.
The SMC officials also demolished an illegal structure in Jawahar Nagar area of Srinagar. “The building was raised in violation of the norms,” it said.
“A massive drive will be launched against violators in a few days. All such structures will not only face sealing but the deviated portions will be demolished too. Violators, irrespective of their status, will be acted against,” said SMC Commissioner Dr Shafqat Khan.
“I request all residents in Srinagar to abide by permission orders and avoid any deviations. Any violations will attract action under laws,” said Dr Shafqat.
