Thousands participate in annual Urs at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, June 20: A large number of devotees from across the State and outside today paid obeisance on the first day of the annual Urs at the Hazarat Shah Mohammad Farid-Ud-Din Shrine.
A large number of devotees started gathering at the shrine since early morning as the Annual Urs Sharief of Hazarat Shah Mohammad Farid-Ud-Din at Ziarat complex began with religious fervour.
The Urs of Shah Mohammad Farid -Ud- Din is observed every year on 7th Har Vikrami Samvat Calander, usually falling on June 19 or 20.
Meanwhile, district administration, in collaboration with the Auqaf Islamia, has made elaborate arrangements for the peaceful and hassle free celebration of the annual Urs.
District Development Comm-issioner Kishtwar, Saleem Mohammad has enjoined upon all the line departments to work in coordination and make available adequate facilities.
He called for adequate transport, proper management of the traffic, provision for safe drinking water, sanitation and uninterrupted power supply, besides maintenance of cleanliness in the town in general and around the shrine in particular.
The Municipal Committee has given a facelift to the township and launched a cleanliness drive as part of arrangements decided by the district administration.
