Thieves strike, decamp with cash, gold

JAMMU, Jan 9: Some unknown thieves struck a house in Marjhali area falling in the jurisdiction of police station Gharota and decamped with gold ornaments and cash.
According to a police official, the theft occurred in the afternoon of January 6 when the family members were away from their house to attend the post-death ceremony of one of their relatives.
He said that house in which the theft occurred belong to Neelam Kumar son of Ajit Singh, resident of Marjhali, who in his complaint stated that they were gone to attend a death ceremony when the theft took place. He said that thieves decamped with gold ornaments weighing 5 gm, a silver anklet and a cash amount of Rs 50, 000.
“In this connection, a case under relevant section has been registered at police station Gharota and further investigation in the case is going on”, he added.
