Thief arrested with stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh

DODA, Apr 23: Police today arrested a thief and recovered stolen gold ornaments weighing 160 grams worth Rs 4.5 lakh.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Mohammad Sharief Chouhan said that on April 10, 2014 Sarfraz Ahmed, son of Bahu-Din Khan of Thathri reported about burglary in which gold ornaments of 160 grams (16 tola) were stolen.
Accordingly a case under FIR number 24/14 under Section 457 and 380 RPC was registered in Police Station Thathri and investigations started, SSP added.
Mr Chouhan said that during the course of investigation, police team from Thathri police station led by SHO Ravi Singh Parihar arrested the accused from Paloura, Jammu.
The accused has been identified as Vishal Khajuria alias Laku, son of late Sudesh Khajuria of Varshalla, district Kishtwar, SSP said, adding that on the disclosure of accused, stolen gold ornaments weighing 160 grams worth Rs 4.5 lakh were recovered.
Further investigation into the case is going on to ascertain if he is involved in any other theft, SSP informed.
