Thief arrested, stolen property worth Rs 1 lakh recovered

RAMBAN, Mar 18: Banihal police worked out a theft case within 24 hours with the arrest of the burglar and recovery of stolen property worth Rs 1 lakh.
As per police sources, on March 16 this year, a complaint was lodged by Headmaster of Government High School Buzla Kharie with Police Station Banihal stating that some unknown person(s) entered into the school and decamped with computer equipments including CPUs, monitors, key boards from the computer lab of the school.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 31/18 under Section 457 and 380 RPC was registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started.
During investigation several suspects were rounded up and during sustained investigation, one of the suspects broke down and confessed that he had committed the theft.
Police arrested the accused, who has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Gul Mohammad Bhat of Buzla Banihal. On his disclosure all the stolen items including CPUs, keyboards, monitors, service fax and various other items including wires and boards were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aejaz Wani along with Police Post SI Wasim Mehraj made the arrest under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Chowdhary and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
