Thief arrested, stolen items recovered

JAMMU, July 23: Acting swiftly, Gool police arrested a thief within 24 hours and recovered stolen items from his possession.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Javed Iqbal Mattoo, on July 22, a written complaint was lodged by Abdul Samad, son of Gulam Rasool of Gool with police station Gool that someone had stolen utensils, allied material, broke open the donation box of a religious place at Gool and stolen the amount from it.
Accordingly, a case under FIR number 40/14 under Section 454 and 380 RPC was registered at police station Gool and investigation was entrusted to PSI Shakeel Ahmed Manhas, SSP added.
Mr Mattoo added that during the course of investigation, a person namely Mohammad Iqbal, son of Ahmedu of Gool was picked up for investigation, who confessed his involvement into the theft.
On his disclosure, Rs 10,454 cash and other stolen items were recovered, SSP added.
