Thief arrested with stolen gold ornaments

JAMMU, Dec 4: Bahu Fort police under ‘Operation Meghdoot’ arrested a thief with stolen gold ornaments valuing around Rs 5 lakh.
As per police sources, on September 4, 2015, a complaint was lodged by Gouhar Aslam, son of Mohammad Aslam of Satellite Colony Bathindi with Police Station Bahu Fort stating that some unknown person has stolen his gold ornaments.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 215/15 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several suspects were rounded up and out of them, one of the suspect broke down and confessed that he committed the theft.
Police arrested the accused, who has been identified as Ayub Ahmed, son of Shamas Din of district Kathua, at present Teli Basti Bari Brahmana, district Samba. On his disclosure, stolen 15 tolas gold items valuing around Rs 5 lakh was recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by Incharge Bathindi Police Post SI Mohammad Irfan made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Sajad Parvaiz, SDPO East Arun Jamwal and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
