DODA, Mar 17: Hundreds of residents of Thathri today staged a protest over shifting of Government Degree College (GDC) Thathri location from town to outskirt of Thathri headquarters.
The shop, schools and colleges observed complete shutdown over the land row controversy.
While speaking, the speakers informed that earlier it was decided by the college authorities and higher education officials that the GDC building would be constructed within the locality of Thathri headquarter, adding that due to political interference, the authorities are notifying the land for said college in outskirts.
However, the protesters lamented that despite the fact that the land for GDC Thathri was already notified in Upper Thathri town which is accessible for every student but now the administration and Government are shifting the building to another place which is very far from the town area.
The protesters demanded immediate cancellation of land shifting plan and appealed to construct building in town area.
Thathri Development Front President Manzoor Ahmed Batt, General Secretary Surinder Kumar, Joint Secretary Ghulam Hussain Batt, Spokesperson Azgar Ali Batt, senior citizen Wassem-ul-Haq addressed the protesters.
