Terror and talks

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Talks, not war, will solve problem’ DE Feb 13.
During recent times, many Kashmir based political leaders including Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have been pleading for India- Pakistan talks to restore peace in the State and on LoC. It is quite laudable that these leaders want the matter to be settled peacefully. But will talks with Pak yield any result? After Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, he initiated many steps to resume talks with Pakistan. Even though former Pak Prime Minister showed willingness to talk, but he was not allowed by Pak military bosses. As Pak foreign policy is run by military establishment, there can’t be talks between the two countries. Pakistan military is hell bent on creating chaos and confusion in the J&K State as it finds its objectives getting fulfilled through this policy. Pakistan does not believe in talks and peaceful means to resolve issues with India. Had it been so, no terror infrastructure would  have come up in Pakistan. Pak military extends its patronage to militants to settle scores with India and Afghanistan.
There is no fun in talking to Pakistan. The Indian Government must exert all kind of pressure on Pakistan to resolve the issues if any.
Yours etc…
