Tehsildar held taking graft

JAMMU, Oct 6: On the basis of a written complaint lodged by Farooq Ahmed Kripak, a resident of village Keshwan Kishtwar, a case was registered by Vigilance Organisation against Irshad Ahmed Butt, Tehsildar Kishtwar.
The complainant alleged that he approached Patwari Halqa Keshwan for processing the RBA certificates of his wards for which the Patwari Halqa Keshwan demanded Rs 5000 from him, but he being the poor person was unable to pay him such a huge amount.

Accordingly, the Patwari Halqa concerned prepared the income of complainant of Rs 40,000 per annum which is very much higher than his actual income. The complainant approached Tehsildar Kishtwar namely Irshad Ahmed Butt for re-verifying his income.
The Tehsildar concerned after verification had prepared his (complainant) actual income, but on this pretext the Tehsildar Kishtwar Irshad Ahmed Butt demanded Rs 7000 from him. The complainant approached the Vigilance Organisation requested for taking legal action against the corrupt officer —under law and providing of justice to him.
Accordingly, on the basis of the complaint/registration of the instant  case, a successful  trap was laid by the Vigilance sleuths under the command of Kartar Singh Kotwal, DySP against the Tehsildar and he was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs.7000 as illegal gratification from the complainant.
After completing all necessary formalities, the Tehsildar was arrested for further legal action.
Investigation of the case is going on.
