Team Jammu submits memorandum to DGP for fight against drug menace

JAMMU, Mar 13: Seeking an aggressive fight in war against the drug abuse and the drug mafia, Team Jammu today apprised Director General of Police about the menace and the steps taken to curb the same.
A Team Jammu delegation, led by its chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal, called on DGP Dr S P Vaid here today, and submitted the memorandum on rising drugs issue besides apprising him of factual situation on the ground.
Zorawar Singh briefed the DGP about the rising number of drug abuse cases despite noose tightened by the police against the menace in the region.
In the memorandum, submitted to the DGP, Zorawar explained that in the past two years, more than 200 youth including some girls lost their lives due to drugs abuse.
The duo discussed the concern in threadbare and pledged to fight against it more aggressively.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal told the DGP that despite stern actions being taken by the police in various districts of the region, many case are still being left unattended thus posing a serious threat to the civil society in days to come.
Terming drug menace as narco terrorism, Zorawar Singh Jamwal asserted that situation was alarming and required to be dealt with iron hands.
The DGP, who has already issued directions to his subordinates across the region over the issue, said that Jammu and Kashmir Police will leave no stone unturned to counter and curb drug menace besides gripping the drug mafia. He said that nobody will be spared, if found involved in drug menace in the State.
Quoting an example of departmental action against the cop, who was found indulged in drug supply, the DGP assured that black sheep within the department, if any, will have to face action. He assured Team Jammu of extending full support in fighting against drug menace.
