Teachers Guild demands DPC, highlights other issues

JAMMU, June 8: An urgent meeting of core-committee of Teachers Guild Jammu & Kashmir was held at its Head Quarter Circular Road, Jammu.
The meeting was conveyed under the chairmanship of its State president Nasir Ahmed Qureshi and  the agenda  was to discuss the core-issues of teaching community,    including  delay in DPCs of Masters and stagnation thereof; deduction of HRA in salary of deployed/attached/utilized Masters, release of selection grade of teachers, enhancement of HRA for the teachers serving in rural areas, removal of pay anomaly of teachers, exemption of teachers from  the assignments other than teaching  work, salary problem of Rehber-e-Taleem Teachers and Head teachers under SSA, regularization of Headmasters, ZEOs and Lecturers, enhancement of Medical Allowances etc.
In his presidential address, Nasir Ahmed Quershi, expressed strong resentment on the field functioning of the department for not conducting the DPC since 2014. He said that the DSEK is conducting DPC’s of different cadres in a regular way and even the Secretary School Education has issued promotion of Lecturers in different disciplines but DSEJ has stagnated the teachers for getting promotion as Masters and Lecturers by withholding the DPC’s since 2014 and near about 1350 posts of Masters are lying vacant in Districts of Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur and Kathua etc. besides a large number of vacancies of lecturers.
He further stated that there are Higher Secondary Schools in higher reaches (Zone-III) of district Doda, Reasi and Kishtwar, which have only two to three Masters/Lecturers. He also appealed to all teachers unions to be united on one platform to fight against the discriminatory attitude of the higher authorities. He also appealed to the representatives of teachers to fight for the general cause of teaching community and do not indulge in transfer and posting matters.
Vijay Kumar Sharma, State general secretary of TGJK also spoke on the occasion and  appealed the  Education Minister to review the transfer norms of teachers as per transfer policy issued in the year 2015 and issue clear cut guideline for rationalization of staff particularly in city schools.
Others, who spoke  on the occasion, included Virendar Kumar, Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, Ram Lal, M S  Choudhary, Balbir Singh, Rita Kumari, Akhter Parveen, Devinder Kumar, Om Parkash, Vijay Gupta, Tirth Kumar, Sanjeet Sharma and Charanjit Lal.
