JAMMU, Apr 14: Members of All Teachers Association, J&K, today held an emergent meeting under the chairmanship of its State president Mrignayani Salathia and strongly condemned the order passed by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mahore (Reasi) whereby he has authorized Patwaris to conduct inspections of the educational institutions.
The Association rued that the teaching community was most harassed community in the State of J&K where every scheme and survey of the Government is implemented utilizing their services.  “However, instead of appreciating the role of Government  Teachers,  the SDM Mahore has passed an arbitrary order whereby he has directed inspection of schools  by the Patwaris, who are working on lower grade than the teachers,” Mrignayani said adding that by authorizing Patwaris to inspect educational institutions, the SDM  has insulted the whole teaching community.
The meet further flayed other part of the said order, which talks of automatic suspension of teachers and said that the same was against the provisions of law, according to which there is a set mechanism for issuing order of suspension under Rule 31 of J&K Civil Services (CCA) Rule. “Order passed by the SDM Mahore runs contrary to the  statutory rules,” Mrignayani said, adding that  unless and until authorities  treat the teaching community with the respect  it deserves, the Government  cannot take best out of the  teachers.
“Instead of this order, there should have been a direction that teachers will inspect other departments for two hours daily on rotation basis after their working hours voluntary for clean governance and corruption free State,” Mrignayani said and  urged the Education Minister to intervene to save the dignity of teachers.
She further warned that if the said controversial order is not revoked with in two days, ATAJ&K shall launch a strong agitation against the illegal direction against teachers.
