POONCH, Apr 22: While a Government teacher and a Class-IV employee of the School Education Department were today placed under suspension for their alleged involvement in a case concerning kidnapping and gang-rape of a minor girl hailing from Mandi, an influential local Junior Engineer, also wanted in the case, is being shielded following some political pressure.
A spokesman from District Education Office Poonch today told Excelsior that teacher Abdul Rehman, son of Abdul Ahad, resident of Kunda Azmabad in Mandi and posted in Govt Middle School Mughal Doba and Class IV employee/ Lab bearer Mohd Akram, son of Mohd Yousuf Khan from Kunda Azmabad and posted in Govt Higher Secondary School Mandi have been placed under suspension after they were booked by Mandi Police under FIR No. 15/ 2014. Both the employees have been attached to the office of Chief Education Office Poonch.
Reports said that prime accused Molvi Mohd Farid of Arai in Mandi has already been arrested by police for the rape and kidnapping of minor girl while an influential Junior Engineer, Mohd Asadullah, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, resident of Kunda Azmabad is being shielded due to some political pressure. He is said to be uncle (Mama) of a local NC leader. The police was also said to be under pressure to act while, concerned RDD officials including BDO Mandi and ACD Poonch have taken no departmental action against JE even after four days of lodging an FIR No. 15/ 2014 against him and others by Mandi police.
BDO Mandi, Sajid Ahmed when inquired about any departmental action against absconding JE booked by police in an FIR No. 15 said he was not competent to take any action, he has recommended action to the ACD Poonch. The ACD (RDD) Mr Malik however, avoided to comment and maintained that he has asked BDO to provide him details of the case.
A police officer when contacted said that several police teams were conducting raids at different places to arrest absconding four accused persons including JE and teacher. They are also absent from duty. Their families are also being asked to provide clue about their location.
