JAMMU, Nov 21: To commemorate the greatest sacrifice of Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad, a procession of Chehlum was taken out from Imam Dargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha here today.
The procession passed through its traditional route Lakhdata Bazaar, Rajinder Bazaar, Ghaas Mandi Chowk, Wazarat Road and culminated at Karbala complex under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu.
Hundreds of mourners participated in the procession to pay rich tributes to the martyrs of Karbala. Imam Hussain attained martyrdom at Karbala (Iraq) with his 72 companions. He sacrificed his life for the cause of humanity, truth and values of Islam.
Maulana Syed Farman Ali Mousavi addressed the gathering of mourners before the procession was taken out. He passionately narrated the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his companions at Karbala. The mourners paid homage to Imam Hussain by taking out Alam and Tazia procession.
The martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his companions, family members at Karbala was a turning point in the history of Islam.
President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Syed Aman Ali Shah while addressing said that truth always wins over falsehood. He said that Imam Hussain’s motive was to make Islam alive, he sacrificed everything for the sake of humanity and Islam. He said this is the reason that after 1400 years people still observe Moharram with same passion.
Keeping the sense of communal harmony alive once again Jammuites showed the example of brotherhood as people from different communities participated in the procession.
In Kargil, thousands of people across the district observed the Chehlum-e-Hussaini during which mourning processions from all nearby villages reached the Kargil town and participated in the huge mourning gathering.
The processions were taken out under the banner of Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama Asna Ashariya Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust.
These processions passed through main bazar, Islamia School Chowk, Lal Chowk, Khomenie Chowk and culminated at Inqilab Manzil (Qatil Gah) and Hussaini Park .
The mourners were beating their chests remembering the martyrs of Karbala and the great sacrifice of Imam Hussain in the desert of Karbala.
In the processions, the people were seen raising slogans against US, Israel, ISIS and Saudi Arabia accusing them for “committing atrocities against Muslim Ummah.”
In Leh also, thousands of Shia community including women and children participated in Juloos-e-Arbaeen (procession) to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain. The procession organized by the Anjuman Imamia Youth Wing Leh commenced from Imam Khomeini Memorial Chowk Chuchot to culminate at Imam Bargha Chuchot Yokma. On the occasion, Alamdar Health Service organized a blood donation camp. It is an auspicious annual occasion during which the Shia community pays their homage to the martyrs of Karbala.
Talking to the media Immam Juma Leh Sheikh Hussain Ali said that Arbaeen marks the forty days after the day of Ashura, the day Hussain Ibn Ali was martyred in the battle of Karbala. Hussian Ibn Ali was a 7th century revolutionary leader who sacrifices his life for the social justice.
In Ramban also, similar Tazia procession was taken out which was joined by a large number of Muslim community members. The mourners wearing black dress were wailing and beating their chests and also reciting Noha / Marsiyas in memory of Imam Hussain who attained martyrdom in the battle of Karbala along with his 72 companions for the upliftment of the truth and humanity. The procession started from Imam Barha Chanderkote and after passing through National Highway along traditional route culminated at Karbala ground.
