Taxi Operators Federation submits memorandum of demands to CM

JAMMU, Mar 10: President of Jammu Province Tourist Taxi Operators Federation, Anchal Singh Manhas, called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and submitted her memorandum highlighting several demands and issues of the taxi operators.
In the memorandum, the Federation has demanded relief from the huge parking fee charged by the Railway and Air Port Authority, special package for revival of taxi operators, waiving off the fitness fee, which is being charged twice in a year after 15 years of the life of taxi, approval for rates of pre-paid taxi service, exemption from the Speed Limit Devices, especially on the Express Highway.
Opposing the introduction of UBER-OLA taxi service in Jammu and Kashmir, the Federation offered to provide the same service in the State at discounted rates if the Government provides them necessary app for the same.
The Federation president urged the Chief Minister  that business of taxi service be brought under the ambit of industrial status  and accordingly, they may be provided amenities like that of industries in the State. He also demanded waiving off the pending loans and sanction of new package in shape of soft loans so that they may be able to go for luxury taxies, which are in demand.
Manhas stressed that their demands should be given positive consideration so that the taxi operators may survive  in the hard days as they have no other option at this age and their families were totally dependent on them their earning through this means.
The Chief Minister assured to give a sympathetic consideration to all the demands and suggestion.
