JAMMU, Sept 27: Tata Motors, which has 74 percent market share in commercial vehicles across Jammu and Kashmir, is going to open 12 more Touch Points (Service Centres) in the State for facilitating its customers.
This was informed by R T Wasan, vice-president, Sales and Marketing, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd, while talking to the Excelsior.
“Tata Motors has a strong network presence in Jammu and Kashmir with 74 percent market share, 5 dealerships and 40 touch points and will further expand our network presence here  with the opening of 12 new touch points in the current year  – covering 3S set-ups, 1S Sales set-ups, TASSes and Container,” he disclosed.
Wassan said that Tata Motors will continue to play across all segments with new range of BS-IV compliant MHCVs, new range of Ultra vehicles in ICVs, Yodha in Pickups, and XL range of SCVs which will deliver superior value to the customers by reducing total cost of operation and by improving revenue potential
He said that Tata Motors has embarked on a turnaround plan to further increase its market share in the Commercial Vehicle Business by focusing on three key pillars- Rigorous cost reduction, on time product launches and smooth supply chain.   “As part of the turnaround strategy, Tata Motors will invest Rs 1,500 crore across various segments.  Factors which had resulted in a slowdown in the CV business including demonetization, the transition from BS III to BS IV norms, and the GST regime have now taken a backseat and the company has registered strong growth in July and August after a weak Q1,” he said.
Wasan said that the company is closely mapping competition by analyzing their products to understand the possible areas where Tata Motors can improve its own products and also reduce costs. “Dedicated product line-wise teams have been formed across plants to drive cost reduction. Apart from cost reduction, the company is focusing in various initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and overall cost of ownership of vehicles. To that effect, it has put in place nearly 500 mobile workshops and container workshops in remote areas across the country, promising to repair vehicles within 48 hours of breakdown,” he informed.
Tata Motors is also building a team of ‘Dronas’, who are expert technicians and drivers, to help customers understand how to get the maximum mileage out of their trucks. Forty such Dronas have been trained so far.
