KHOUR, July 8: One-day convention of Block Congress Committee Khour was held here today under the leadership of former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who targeted the Modi Government on a range of issues and also infused enthusiasm among the party’s booth-level workers ahead of upcoming polls.
Tara Chand said that instead of creating two  crore jobs every year as promised by Modi in the run up to the 2014 general elections, the BJP-led Central Government  had reduced existing jobs. He leveled charges against the Modi Government that it had provided loan waivers totalling Rs 2.5-lakh crore to 15-20 of India’s richest industrialists, but similar demand by farmers had not been taken up seriously. He also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the rise in money stashed away by Indians in Swiss banks by over 50 percent.
Tara Chand criticized the Central Government for deceiving the displaced people of 1947, 1965 and 1971 by extending the date of disbursement of scanty amount of Rs 5.50 lakh against the promised Rs 30 lakh per displaced family just to keep them engaged in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“BJP-PDP Government did not make any efforts to relieve the weaker sections of their hardships. Incompetence of BJP and PDP pushed back State in all sectors. No progress has been recorded in the core sectors like PHE, PDD, R&B, UEED, Health, Education, etc during three years of BJP-PDP Government,” he said.
Alleging that BJP-PDP failed to come up to the expectations of the masses in the State, Tara Chand urged youth to join hands with the Congress party.
On the occasion, scores of youth and ex-servicemen joined Congress and expressed faith in the leadership of Tara Chand who asked them to pace up for the upcoming elections. Romesh Verma, Suram Singh, Jagdish Sharma, Capt Balwan Singh, Jagattar Singh were present at the convention.
