JAMMU, Feb 28: Police today foiled the attempt for march towards the Civil Secretariat by Talwara migrants who were demanding implementation of Supreme Court order for relief to them at par with Kashmiri displaced persons.
Shouting slogans for housing, jobs and schooling to their children, these migrants assembled near Parade Ground and held a demonstration, which was also joined by several Panthers Party leaders, including Anita Thakur, Incharge Jammu Migrants.  A number of women and children had arrived from Talwara Camp for taking part in the protest at Jammu.
As the protesters tried to march towards Civil Secretariat, Police stopped them. However, there was no scuffle as the migrants dispersed off peacefully after making brief speeches in support of their demands.
Addressing the protesters, Anita Thakur, announced that a similar protest would be organized soon in front of the Parliament. She alleged that the State Government was discriminating with Talwara migrants and denying them relief at par with their Kashmiri counterparts.
The  Panthers Party leaders who joined the protest included  Jagdev Singh,  Vilakshan Singh , Manoj Kumar,  S Paramjeet Singh Marshall,  Khajur Singh ,  Rajesh Pargotra,  Balwant Singh,  Anil Rakwal,  and others.
