Take permission for tuition: Govt

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 27: The School Education Department has ordered that no teaching faculty in the State shall undertake tuition in any private educational institution or coaching centre without previous sanction for the same from the competent authority.
A circular in this  regard has been issued by the Secretary School Education Department, which entrusts the responsibility of ensuring implementation  of the instructions upon the Chief Education Officers, Zonals Education Officers, Principals of Higher Secondary Schools and Headmasters of all other Government Schools in the State.
Any member of the teaching faculty found violating the circular instructions shall face disciplinary action, as warranted under rules, says the circular, number Edu/L/J/Misc/131/2017, dated 25-09-2017.
The circular has been issued in consonance to the directions passed by the High Court,   in deference to the opinion conveyed by the Department of Law and in order to safeguard the interest of students.
It may be recalled that the School Education Department’s  earlier order, dated -4-01-2017,  banning private tuition by the  Government teachers did not sustain in the court of law after which the matter was taken up with the Department of Law, Justice and the Parliamentary Affairs for seeking opinion.
