Take appropriate steps to strengthen anti-infiltration grid: IGP to officers

JAMMU, Mar 14: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh Jamwal stressed upon the supervisory officers to make optimum use of resources available with them and take appropriate steps to strengthen the anti infiltration grid by laying effective check points round the clock particularly during wee hours on the road originating from border areas as well as on National Highway.
He also impressed upon to organize patrolling as well as establishment of check points on the probable infiltration routes to prevent infiltration across the International Border (IB) and foil nefarious designs of anti-national elements.
IGP was speaking during meeting with GOs, NGOs and SHOs at DPO Samba. During the meeting, SSP Samba Anil Magotra gave a detailed briefing through power point presentation with regard to various challenges being faced by the police with regard to border management in district Samba and also apprised IGP with regard to shortcomings and requirements to strengthen the existing border management.
Earlier, IGP Dr Jamwal accompanied by SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta visited different areas of International Border (IB) of District Jammu, Samba and Kathua and reviewed the border management and anti infiltration grid and also to ensure better co-ordination between police and concerned NCA unit deployed in the area.
During his visit, IGP visited various BOPs of BSF including ditch-cum-bandh in district Jammu, Samba and Kathua and got a detailed briefing from the senior officers of concerned BSF Battalions deployed at BOPs Budhwar, Chamblyal, Babbia and BOP Maniyari regarding border management as well as other activities going on at IB.
During his interaction with BSF Officer, Dr SD Singh Jamwal stressed on close synergy between police, BSF and intelligence agencies to foil evil designs of enemy.
IGP also visited police station Ramgarh and conducted surprise inspection of Police Station complex. He briefed the SHO and other staff posted in the police station to bring improvement in the working of police station as well as lying of check points. IGP also asked them to carry out patrolling on the infiltration routes.
Later, a meeting of officers and jawans was held in DPL Kathua.
SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar apprised IGP Jammu Zone with regard to border management including deployment made on IB as well as various steps taken by the police to strengthen anti infiltration grid in district Kathua.
IGP Jammu Zone gave patient hearing to the problems put forth by the officers and jawans and assured them that their genuine problems will be addressed appropriately.
