Swami Vivekananda 150th Jyanti Sports Meet concludes

UDHAMPUR Feb 15: Swami Vivekananda 150th Jyanti Sports Meet, organized by Happy Model School Udhampur concluded, here today.
In all 47 activities were held during the meet which included Races, Cultural events and Mass PT etc.
287 students were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals and merit certificates for securing 1st , 2nd and 3rd position in different events by the chief guests on the occasion.
Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports and Benam Tosh, ASP Udhampur were the chief guests on the occasion
On the occasion, the outstanding sports personalities and Police officers from Udhampur were honoured for excelling in sports by the founders of Happy Model Foundation, Udhampur.
Earlier, the programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and showering of floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda by dignitaries.
Students were put to test under 100 mts, 200 mts, 400 mts individual and group races. The Primary wing of the school played under the theme “Run for Joy” while the senior classes ran under the theme “ Run for Strength”.
The special attractions were the roller skating races, skipping races, snail race , crocodile race, rope race, relay race, hurdle race, besides the traditional lemon spoon, shoe-sock , banana, thread needle races and musical chair races were also organized.
The students presented fencing, yoga, tug of war, jumping and variety of scouting activities.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Ashok Kumar stressed upon the need to balance academics with sports, while Benam Tosh in his address asked the students to play for prosperity, health and long life.
The founders Kamal Gulati and Maj ML Gulati were present on the occasion, while Dr Mineesh Gulati presented the vote of thanks.
The programme was coordinated by Dr Vikram Gulati, Veena, Yashpal and Makhan.
