‘Swachh Pakhwara’: SAI holds essay writing competition

JAMMU, Aug 8: As a part of fortnight long ‘Swachh Pakhwara’- project of Union Ministry of Youth Services and Sports launched countrywide, the Jammu based Centre of Sports Authority of India today organised essay writing competition for the players at Maulana Azad Stadium here.
More than 100 players from different disciplines participated in the competition under the title, ‘How can we keep India clean?’
“This is a two week long programme during which various events including essay writing competition, cleanliness drive, plantation drive, anti-polythene drive will be organized,” an official here said.
He said that in the coming days, ‘Swachhta Drive’ will be organised in one of the schools of the city while cleanliness drive will also be organised in the Stadium and the Park.
Three players including two from basketball discipline namely Priyanshu Thakur, Aman Ul Hassan and one from handball namely Arjun Kumar won prizes in essay writing competition.
International fencing coach, Rachna Jamwal was the chief guest on the occasion and she distributed mementoes among the winning participants.
In-charge SAI Jammu Centre Varinder Sharma, Senior Coaches Aman Sharma, Sat Pal Sharma, Gurmeet Kour, Narinder Kour and Kalyani Dwivedi were also present on the occasion.
