Surprise inspection of petrol pumps conducted

RAJOURI, Nov 17: District Administration today carried out surprise inspection of petrol pumps located across the district in terms of provisioning of various facilities like toilets, drinking water, free air pressure check, fire safety and overall security as mandated under guidelines of Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Teams of officer under supervision of concerned SDMs and Tehsildars were deployed to check and verify, if the guidelines issued by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for provisioning of facilities are followed or not.
The move comes on the circular instructions of the State Government conveyed in this regard.
During the extensive inspections, it was found that out of 21 petrol pumps, 09 petrol pumps have all the basic amenities for the consumers, 06 lack the facility of drinking water, air gauge facility has not been found to be functional or installed in equal number of pumps besides 03 pumps don’t have toilets facilities.
One petrol pump namely Mir Oil Aids lacks all the basic amenities and was found functioning in contravention of standing guidelines. It was also found that two petrol pumps one each located in Kalakote and Rajouri town are non-functional.
A spokesman of District Administration said that the petrol pumps are under scanner over blatant non-compliance of mandatory Safety & security measures and provisioning of basic facilities to the consumers.
He further added that shortcomings observed during the course of surprise inspection will be forwarded to the respective oil companies which have given license to the petrol pumps and stringent action as warranted under norms will be taken against the defaulters.
