SURINSAR, Apr 24: Saying that Surinsar is fast emerging as a premier tourist destination of Jammu in view of its immense scenic splendor and aesthetic grandeur, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Monday enumerated the potential of the lake its economic significance for the capital city.
Kick-starting the upgradation of boulevard around the lake in terms of concreting, tiling and improving its ambience, Mr Rana said development is a continued process and when related with localized potential it can turn as game changer for improving the lives of people in terms of generating economic avenues. He said better infrastructure to the areas like Surinsar will give fillip to tourism activity and in turn the local people can benefit immensely.
“Being in close vicinity of the capital city, the area could be developed as a multi-faceted tourism, sports and economic hub of the region”, he said, adding that in the process the youth of Nagrota constituency would benefit in a big way in terms of setting up restaurants, food jaunts, kiosks etc. He hoped that all necessary measures would be taken to achieve the objective of enhancing tourism activity in the area.
The Provincial President said the famous water body can be developed as a tourist destination of pride, provided sincere efforts are made by the government in the larger interest of people. Alongside its development, he said a promotional campaign will also have to be launched to put Surinsar on the tourism map of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rana, who represents Nagrota in Legislative Assembly, called for expediting work infrastructural development around the Surinsar Lake so as to make it potential destination to attract nature lovers and holidayers, especially those from Jammu city and its peripheries as the region is hugely lacking hangout destinations. For incentivizing tourists, modern facilities will have to be created, he said, adding that he will continue to work towards this end.
The MLA Nagrota urged the executing agency to complete upgradation of the road around the lake in a time bound manner so that the tourists don’t face any inconvenience during the ongoing tourist season. Regarding overall development of his constituency, he said his endeavour has been to move ahead on developmental plank in order to develop the constituency on modern lines, keeping in view its strategic importance.
On this occasion, prominent National Conference functionaries were present who lauded the initiatives of Mr Rana in pursuing the development of Nagrota with the line-departments.
