SURAT (GUJARAT), Dec 6: With only one more day left for election campaign to end in this industrially sensitive town, Union Minister and BJP “Sah-Prabhari” (Co-incharge) of Gujarat Assembly election, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the Surat traders are fully with BJP and this will become evident when the election results are declared on the 18th of this month
Brushing aside unsubstantiated perception sought to be made out in certain sections, Dr Jitendra Singh said, several of the independent political observers and independent commentators arriving in Surat from outside have voluntarily changed the opinion after sensing the reality on the ground here. He said, in the last few weeks, many news agencies, both from print and electronic media, have been deputing their teams to Surat and even those of the commentators who arrived here with certain pre-conceived bias, discovered that the reality was entirely different than what was being made out from far away.
Citing recorded video interviews taken at random by certain independent media channels, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the trade community members from textile industry, diamond industry, chemical industry as well as other sections of industry are found clearly and vociferously expressing themselves in support of Bharatiya Janata Party and Narendra Modi. There is also an opinion among the industrial leaders that even in future, any grievance or issue related to the business community can be best addressed only under a BJP dispensation, he added.
The Congress and some other opposition leaders, Dr Jitendra Singh said, out of their over-enthusiasm, tried to exploit the GST related issues to evoke sympathy and support from the industrial community, but in course of time, the industrialists realized that BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi was following an approach with open mind and sense of accommodation, which has left them not only gratified, but also grateful. He said, he has personally been interacting with the Industry leaders over the last several weeks and they have all appreciation for the manner in which Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley engaged himself in a free and frank interaction with them during his recent visit to Surat and also accepted most of their inputs, besides assuring them to bring ease in the GST related procedures.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the attempts by Congress Party to provoke caste division have also proved unsuccessful and the “Patidar Organization Committee” (POC), a conglomerate of community, has also testified this.
